Welcome back to Mountainscaper’s blog! In our last blog post, we talked about some reasons why you should spend more time outside this fall in Phoenix. Some of those benefits included, better eye health, vitamin D absorption, and getting out of the indoor pollution that can be even worse than outdoor pollution. If you missed our last post, be sure to read it here or keep reading below about the health benefits of spending a little time outside on your patio in Phoenix.
Spending time outside has shown to improve your sleep. Not only are you getting that valuable vitamin D that can help you catch more restful z’s, but those who spend more time outside have circadian rhythms that are more tied to the natural rising and setting of the sun. Being more in sync with the earth’s natural rhythms help you fall asleep and wake up easier and overall improve your quality of sleep. We all could enjoy feeling a bit more rested.
Due to sleeping better and generally feeling better, you will naturally be happier! However, spending time outside has even more profound effects on your wellbeing. Being outside can have positive effects on our psychological health: improved attention span, more serotonin, and greater feelings of emotional stability, love, and empathy. Often, spending even just 15 minutes outside can drastically improve your mood, focus, and overall view of life.
We find that many in the Phoenix area have decent patio areas, but rarely use them. Why not mix up your schedule and spend time on your patio—it’s part of your property, so why not enjoy it? If you find yourself not wanting to spend time outside, ask yourself why. Is it because your landscaping isn’t what you want and it bugs you whenever you spend time outside or do you wish it was a more comfortable or relaxing space?
